Bernadette Peters
Bernadette Peters (nee Lazzara was born on February 28, 1948) is an American performer, actress, and children's book author. She has appeared on television, film, musical theatre , and solo concerts, as well as on recorded recordings. Her career spans over six years. A highly well-known Broadway performer she has won seven Tony Awards nominations, winning two (plus an honourary award) and nine Drama Desk Award nominations. She has won three. Grammy Awards have been won through four of the Broadway cast albums which she has appeared on.
Peters is widely recognized as the most well-known interpreter for the works written by Stephen Sondheim. Her roles on Broadway include Mack and Mabel (1974), Sunday in the Park with George (84), Song and Dance (1985), Into the Woods with George (87), The Goodbye Girl(93), Annie Get Your Gun 1999), Gypsy (2003), A Little Night Music (2009), Follies (2011) as well as Hello, Dolly (2018).
